Monday morning, Bennettsville Police arrested a man on four counts of attempted murder.
Johnathan Jenkins was arrested on four counts of attempted murder, discharging a weapon into a motor vehicle, and the possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime after the incident Monday morning at Marlboro Court Apartments on Oakwood Street in Bennettsville.
According to Lt. Larry Turner of the Bennettsville Police Department, Jenkins fired multiple shots into a vehicle with victims inside of it.
After the shooting, Jenkins fled on foot to an apartment at Marlboro Manor, also located on Oakwood Street in Bennettsville.
Turner said State Law Enforcement Division’s SWAT team was called in to assist with the apprehension of Jenkins from the location.
As the SWAT team members arrived on the scene, Jenkins exited the location and was taken into custody without incident.
The victims of the shooting were transported by EMS to a local hospital.
Turner said Jenkins is currently incarcerated at the Marlboro County Detention Center awaiting bond.
"This incident is still an ongoing investigation and more charges and arrests may possibly follow," he said.
