COLUMBIA -- South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has reported the state’s second and third deaths related to COVID-19 novel coronavirus. This brings the state’s total number of deaths to three.

Marlboro County declares a state of emergency in response to the coronavirus pandemic

In response to the threat from the COVID-19, the Marlboro County Council approved an emergency ordinance to declare a state of emergency during a special called meeting Friday (March 20).
County Council Chairman Jason Steen said, in a press conference after the meeting, it was approved to take measures necessary to protect citizens and continue County operations during the current coronavirus pandemic.

Town of Clio implements COVID-19 procedures

CLIO  —  The Town of Clio has implemented steps Thursday (March 19) to protect its customers and employees during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The following temporary procedure changes are effective immediately:
— No visitors or walk-payments will be allowed in Town Hall. Customers are required to make payments in the dropbox on the front door.
— The Community Room is closed and not available for public or private events.
