High traffic fatality count a concern
Halfway through 2014, Marlboro County has experienced more than three times as many traffic fatalities as it had in the first half of 2013, and seven times as many as this time in 2012, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Between January 1 and June 22, 2014, there were seven fatalities on Marlboro County roads, including five automobile-only crashes, one involving a dirt bike and the last involving a pedestrian.

Patricia Henegan will be the second woman, and the first African-American, to represent District 54 in the S.C. House of  Representatives, following the Democratic primary election runoff Tuesday.
