Da’John Toreem Sellers loved the students at Bennettsville Primary School.
Assistant Principal Parnell Miles remembered when seeing him in the hallways that he was kind of like a possum.
“You would see children hanging on to him, holding his hand, and he would be carrying two or three,” Miles said. “It was just amazing the magnetism that he had. Children were drawn to him.”
On June 24, his family and friends gathered at the cafeteria entrance of the school to dedicate two benches and rose bushes in his memory.
Da’John Sellers, who was personal care assistant for students with disabilities, died unexpectedly in June of 2020.
His mother, Karon Sellers, said she and her family decided to donate two benches and two knockout rose bushes to the school.
