School safety topic at meeting tonight

Parents and others who want answers about the recent threats against Marlboro County schools may get them at a meeting tonight.
The special called meeting of the school board begins at 6 p.m. in the Marlboro County High School media center. The agenda includes an executive (closed to the public) session to discuss personnel and student/staff safety, followed by an open discussion of the recent threats.

By its very nature, the art of pottery is about transformation. A mound of clay becomes a vase, candlestick or bowl, coaxed into a new form by the hands and imagination of the potter.
Maybe that's why it appeals to Eddie Dial of Blenheim, who knows a little something about transformation himself.
Dial has seen change after change in his nearly 80 years of living, and he has adapted.

School District cancels convocation

The Marlboro County School District has cancelled the annual convocation assembly that was planned for Friday morning at Marlboro County High School. This was in response to a threatening letter mailed to school board members on Wednesday.

The Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools® Program has completed another successful summer for the children and families of Marlboro County. This summer was particularly special, as the organization celebrated the 20th anniversary of the CDF Freedom Schools® Program.
