Group organizes to fight hunger
A group of Marlboro County leaders has come together to help address an urgent problem in the community: food insecurity among children.
According to a recent report by the organization Feeding America, Marlboro County ranks worst in the state for child food insecurity, with 32.5 percent of children in the county considered food insecure.

Randy Moore’s life had reached a crossroads. The year was 2012. He was a popular football player and student at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va. But just hours before he was scheduled to participate with his team in winter workouts, Moore was arrested for what he calls “doing something out-of-control.”

Seldom does discovering moisture on the ceiling lead to something good.  However, Barry Grice, who owns and operates Marlboro Country Club in Bennettsville, can say that it has happened to him.
"Earlier this year, there was a wet spot on the ceiling in the banquet hall at the club.  I was afraid that we had a roof leak and I crawled up to the attic to check it out," says Grice.

Marlboro County - Dillon game postponed until Saturday

The Marlboro County High - Dillon High football game scheduled for tonight has been postponed until Saturday at 6 p.m. due to inclement weather.  The game will still be played at Dillon Memorial Stadium.

Marlboro County Sheriff announces arrest in arson case

Marlboro County Sheriff Fred Knight announces the arrest of Brian Christopher Ralko, 36 years old of 225 Smythe ST Bennettsville SC 29512 for 5 counts of arson 3rd, damage to property and breaking into a motor vehicle. Ralko has been charged in connection to a fire on Brown St on 8-4-15, James St on 9-15-15 and Brown St again on 9-18-15.
