CHERAW This week, the Marlboro County High School Baseball team participated in the Founders FCU Diamond Challenge in Cheraw.

On Monday, the Bulldogs played Central High School. Micheal Norris threw a shutout to lead the Bulldogs past Central 11-0. The pitcher went four innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out four and walking zero.

Next, the Bulldogs played Trinity Collegiate. Both teams were strong on the pitcher’s mound on Monday, but Trinity-Byrnes was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over the Bulldogs 2-0.

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs played Cheraw High School and defeated Cheraw 4-1.

The Bulldogs opened up scoring in the first inning. Norris’ sac fly scored one run.

Cheraw evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when Landon Sellers singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

The Bulldogs pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Markey Purvis homered on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

Purvis, Thomas Smith, Gunner Jordan, Jonathan Westbay, Tristan Hunt, Norris, and WJ Allen each managed one hit to lead. The Bulldogs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hardee had one chance in the field, the most on the team.

Later, the Bulldogs defeated McBee High 15-0. There were three hits, one walk, four RBIs, and 3 QABs.

Cutler Norris threw a gem on Tuesday for the Bulldogs, which allowed zero runs and bested Trinity Collegiate by a score of 7-0. They secured the victory thanks to four runs in the second inning.

The team collected five hits. Hunt and Allen each collected two hits to lead. The Bulldogs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Westbay had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
