Candidate filing for city council seats is now open

The filing period for candidates who wish to run in November’s City of Bennettsville election is now open.
Filing, which opened at noon Monday, will close at noon Aug. 27 at City Hall, 501 E. Main St., Bennettsville.
Voters will cast their ballots on Nov. 2 for three city council seats.
Those positions are held by council members Sandy Donaldson (District1), Allen Taylor (District 3) and Tyron Abraham (District 5).
As of press time, Abraham has filed for reelection.
The term is for four years running Jan. 3, 2022 to Jan. 2, 2026.
