The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one person and is searching for another following a high-speed chase in the Marlboro Road area of the county on Tuesday.
Melinda Sue Northam, 31, was arrested as a result of the investigation.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, during the early morning hours on Tuesday, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle which was driving over 90 mph.
When blue lights and sirens were initiated, the vehicle attempted to flee from the deputy by driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
Officials said Tracey Glenn Blackmon of Latta, the driver of the vehicle, attempted a sharp turn at a high rate of speed and, as a result, wrecked. This left a passenger, Brian Keith Blackmon, 33, injured while the driver fled on foot from the scene.
