Two new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Marlboro County, according to a Monday (May 11) update from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Four injured in shooting, suspect under arrest

Monday morning, Bennettsville Police arrested a man on four counts of attempted murder.
Johnathan Jenkins was arrested on four counts of attempted murder, discharging a weapon into a motor vehicle, and the possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime after the incident Monday morning at Marlboro Court Apartments on Oakwood Street in Bennettsville.
According to Lt. Larry Turner of the Bennettsville Police Department, Jenkins fired multiple shots into a vehicle with victims inside of it.

Driver dies after single-vehicle accident on Red Hill Road

A Bennettsville woman died after her vehicle ran off the road and overturned around 5:15 p.m. Sunday (May 10), according to Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell with S.C. Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred on Red Hill Road near McColl Avenue, which is four miles east of Bennettsville.

A new case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Marlboro County on Friday (May 8), according to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Gov. Henry McMaster: Restaurants are able to open for limited dine-in services on Monday, May 11

McMaster also lifts boating restrictions statewide, effective immediately

COLUMBIA – Governor Henry McMaster today announced that restaurants throughout South Carolina will be allowed to reopen for limited dine-in services beginning on Monday, May 11.

Additionally, Governor McMaster announced that he has lifted all boating restrictions, as defined by Executive Order 2020-25, effective immediately. All laws and regulations concerning the safe operation of boats in South Carolina will now return to normal.
