Reginald McLeod is new veterans affairs officer for the county

Reginald McLeod has one main goal as the veterans affairs officer for Marlboro.
“My goal is to serve those who served us,” he said.
McLeod started in the position on March 5.
Due to COVID-19, getting to in-person training has been challenging so most of his training has been on the job.
McLeod said he has been trying to get acclimated and learn the job.
Amber Goings, the administrative assistant for the office, had run the office for several months after the previous officer left.
McLeod said she had been doing a great job holding it down by herself and taking care of veterans.
A veteran of the United States Army, McLeod served seven years of active duty and three years in the reserve.

CareSouth Carolina, DHEC partner to provide COVID-19 testing

CareSouth Carolina officials said 455 people were tested for COVID-19 during a free drive-through testing event Tuesday at Northeastern Technical College.
In addition to the testing, there was a food giveaway, census information, and encouraging people to vote in the primary.
The event was a collaboration of CareSouth Carolina, Department of Health and Environmental Control, Marlboro Coordinating Council, and Marlboro Empowerment Coalition.
Ann Lewis, CEO of CareSouth Carolina, noted the problem with coronavirus is that anyone could be walking around with it and not know he or she has it.
“It is a very sneaky virus,” she said.
Test results should be available in two to three days.
