County in incipient drought status

Lower than normal rainfall over the past two months led the S.C. Drought Response Committee to upgrade the drought status of 15 South Carolina counties, including Marlboro.
The committee made this decision on Monday, November 27.
The 15 counties now considered to be in the incipient drought stage are: Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Chesterfield, Colleton, Dillon, Dorchester, Hampton, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lexington, Marion, Marlboro, Richland, and York.

Dogs fall in opener to Scots
A second half filled with turnovers and missed opportunities ruined the Marlboro County High debut of coach LaTroy Brace.  The Bulldogs fell to Scotland County, 61-51 Tuesday night.
"We just didn't execute on the offensive end very well down the stretch.  Also, we have to improve defensively," said coach Brace.

Safety meeting to be held January 6

The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office will host a workshop for pastors and/or church leaders to learn about safety.
Conducted by the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the Active Shooter Response for the Worship Environment training will take place Saturday, January 6, at 10 a.m. at the Bennettsville Community Center on North Marlboro Street.

Glenn Bunch tells  about  First Presbyterian Thanksgiving Feast
Rotary Club Past President Glenn Bunch told his fellow Rotarians Tuesday about the 10th year of the Marlboro County  Thanksgiving Feast during their weekly luncheon meeting at The Skye.
On last Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, Bennettsville Presbyterians and other community members  provided a full Thanksgiving dinner for some 1300 residents of Marlboro County.
