Marlboro County breaks streak against Scots

For the Marlboro County Bulldogs and their fans, last Friday was very sweet.  The Bulldogs snapped a losing streak to Scotland County that dated back to 2011, coming from behind for a 41-25 victory.
"This was a big one for us.  We haven't had any success against Scotland in a while and given how close the communities are to each other, that has been a tough pill to swallow," said MCHS head coach Dean Boyd.

Following two blowout victories, the buzz about the Marlboro County High football team has increased exponentially. Folks who had written the Bulldogs off following a pair of lackluster seasons are lining up to hop back on the bandwagon.
Head coach Dean Boyd warns those fans to pump the brakes just a little.

The Marlboro County High football team is scheduled to wrap up spring practice this afternoon. Weather permitting, the Bulldogs will play the Black and Gold spring scrimmage, beginning at 3 p.m.

FUMC basketball

The First United Methodist Church basketball league is celebrating its 25th year of providing healthy and wholesome winter activity for young people.  Over 150 kids ages 6 to 14 from Bennettsville and surrounding communities are involved in the league.  Games are on weeknights at the church’s family center.  Admission is free and the public is invited to come cheer on the young players.
