The first work session  for the City of Bennettsville’s Strategic Plan is next week.
Council discussed the June 22 work session during their monthly meeting Tuesday.  This Strategic Plan work session is set for 5:30 p.m. next Tuesday at the Public Safety Complex. 
In other business, Council approved first reading of an ordinance to amend ordinance 95.02, Streets and Sidewalks.
They also approved first reading to amend ordinance  132.07, Picketing, Demonstrating.
There will be a meeting about the Buyout Program at 6 p.m. July 15 at the Bennettsville Community Center. 
It will be conducted by the S.C. Office of Resilience. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the buyout program and possible assistance for residents who had property damage during Hurricane Florence.
A Revenue Bond Refinancing and Projects update workshop for council will be held at 5:30 p.m. July 27 at the Public Safety Complex.
City Administrator Max Alderman said they have a window of opportunity to consider refinancing a 2013 Revenue Bond. 
Alderman also would like to do a project update with staff.

Other business
—The council voted unanimously to approve a business incentive reimbursement, as part of the Economic Development Incentive Program, to Dr. Angela McCord for her business, The Humidor. The reimbursement is for $4,015.38.  
— The council heard information from Don Strickland, executive director of Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority, about the council appointing a replacement member to the PDRTA Board of Directors. The current city appointee is going through the process of becoming a driver for PDRTA.
— Council learned about the Splish Splash Water Fun for Kids event to bee held from noon-4 p.m. July 10 at Hodges Park, 612 King Street. It is sponsored by Councilman Tyron Abraham and the Bennettsville Fire Department. There will be free hot dogs for kids and food vendors on site. For more information, call Abraham at 843-439-1126.
— Council were reminded about the seventh annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on Saturday, June 26. Food vendors and water slides will be on the beach from 3-9 p.m. A concert with the Silk Groove Revue will be 6:30-9:30 p.m. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. Council mmeber Jean Quick asked why the event was the week before the Fourth of July. Elisabeth McNiel, director of Tourism, Parks, and Recreation, said the event is traditionally held the week before the Fourth of July. The price of the fireworks show is $18,000 for a 20-minute show. The price doubles during the week of the Fourth of July.
— Alderman recognized city employees that are celebrating work anniversaries during the month of June.  They are Terry Brown, public works, 20 years; Michael Leggett, water treatment plant, 20 years; William Parrish, public works, 33 years; Debra Griggs, public works; 14 years; Scot Williams, water and sewer, 12 years; Leverne Miles, public works, 11 years; Jessie Rogers, police, 10 years; Christopher Burks, fire, eight years; Terry Powers, electric, seven years; Michelle Hodges, finance, six years; Talisha McCall, police, four years; Don Galloway, public works, four years; Jaye Moore, police, three years; Joel Oliver, wastewater plant, one year; Jordan Grooms, utility billing, one year; and Seth Cavanaugh, fire, one year.
