Solicitor's Office staff is now located on East Main Street

The effects of Hurricane Florence last September resulted in the Fourth Judicial Circuit Solicitor's office relocating.
The office, now located at 405 E. Main St., in Bennettsville, is the main office for the entire Fourth Circuit.
Solicitor Will Rogers Jr. said he went to the previous office on Liberty Street after the hurricane and found damage which had allowed water to get inside the 20,000 square-foot building at 100 Liberty Street.
Everything had to be removed and SERVPRO came in.
"We were wiped out," he said. "We lost pretty much everything except for our active files."
All current files and financial items were fine but all of the closed files were lost.
Rogers said most of the electronics items were saved.
The office serves Marlboro, Chesterfield, Darlington, and Dillon counties.
Rogers said the office not only handles prosecutions but diversion programs such as pre-trial intervention and drug court.
In addition to the Marlboro County office being damaged, the Dillon office was flooded as well.
Rogers said even with the damage, both offices continued to operate.
"I worked out of my truck quite a bit," he said.
Others worked at other locations temporarily.
Before Hurricane Florence, 11 people were working at the old location. Now eight people are housed at the new office and three others are at the courthouse.
Staff moved to the new location on Dec. 1.
"It has worked out good," Rogers said of the new space. "Marlboro County was helpful in helping us to relocate."
