This week Marlboro County celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., first with a parade through downtown Bennettsville on Saturday morning. Saturday evening the Bennettsville Bicentennial Committee presented a concert by gospel recording artist Lynda Randle, who also served as the grand marshal of the parade. Other events included the Marlboro School Community Center’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast on Monday (see story below) and the NAACP Martin Luther King Jr. Program Monday evening at Shiloh Baptist Church. Above, members of the local branch of the NAACP walk in the parade. Following the parade, Randle briefly addressed the audience.
