The character education trait for January was manners.

Jakari June was chosen as the district winner for grades 7-12 as Marlboro County School District Character Education Student of the Month.

An eighth grader at Blenheim Middle School of Discovery, June was recognized during the February Board of Education meeting.

The following is what his teacher wrote about him:

“My nominee who exemplifies manners is Jakari June. This soft-spoken young man always says ‘yes, sir,’ ‘no, sir,’ ‘yes, ma’am,’ and ‘no, ma’am’ to any adult he encounters. He always politely does what is asked of him without arguing or talking back. He is also respectful in his interactions with his peers. He is truly a shining example of what it means to have “good manners,” living proof that they have not yet gone out of style.”
