A Bennettsville man has been charged with incest after Bennettsville Police said he sexually assaulted a juvenile family member at his home on March 20.
A school counselor called 911 and reported a possible sex crime between the subject and victim, according to a Bennettsville Police Department report.
Both the subject and victim were interviewed separately by police.
The subject said the victim had been staying at his residence until the victim was not able to see a friend. The subject said the victim left the residence on March 20, went to the friend’s home, and did not return. The subject took the victim out of school early on March 23.
The victim told police that around 1 a.m. March 20 the subject put his one-year-old to bed. The subject came to the living room where the victim was and began to fondle the victim. Then the victim was then sexually assaulted.
A detective was contacted. The victim and the subject were transported to the BPD for further investigation and interviews.
The subject, Samuel Christopher Brown, 39, was arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct/incest.
