First COVID-19 associated death reported in Marlboro County

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control is reporting the first COVID-19 associated death of a middle-aged individual in Marlboro County on Monday, May 4.

Bennettsville man charged with assault on a victim and Marlboro County Sheriff

A Bennettsville man faces several charges after beating a victim and assaulting Sheriff Charles Lemon early Sunday (May 3).
According to Lt. Trevor Murphy of the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office, Jarrel Lee Johnson, 34 of Bennettsville, was arrested after allegedly beating a victim with a baseball bat.
