Bennettsville's new fire truck is delivered

The new fire truck for the City of Bennettsville Fire Department arrived Monday afternoon from Safe Industries of Pickens County. Engine 471 is a 2019 E-One Typhoon Custom Rescue Pumper, which seats six. Fire Chief James Jackson III said it will be a few weeks before it is put into service. A public ceremony for the truck is being planned for the future. Above, Jackson presented the check for the truck to Virgil Slagle of Safe Industries. Also, l-r, are Lt. Thomas Dew Jr., Assistant Chief Chris Burks, Jackson, Slagle, Fire Marshal Wade Cheves, and Engineer Richard Lanthier.
