BENNETTSVILLE — Bennettsville just got a whole lot tougher — in the best way possible. A new force in martial arts has arrived: Pee Dee Powerhouse BJJ, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy, founded and instructed by Jimmy Altman, a verified black belt with over 17 years of training and a deep commitment to self-defense, youth mentorship, and community empowerment.
Located at 212 E Main Street, the dojo officially opened its doors with a bold promise to offer world-class grappling instruction in a welcoming, contract-free environment. Whether you’re a curious beginner or a seasoned athlete, Pee Dee Powerhouse BJJ is built to help you grow stronger — physically and mentally.

Classes run Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, with kids (ages 6+) training from 5:45–6:45 p.m. and adults from 6:50–8 p.m. Saturday sessions kick off at 10 a.m., and additional offerings like the KCC schedule are posted on their Facebook page.
Jimmy Altman isn’t just a black belt — he’s a mentor, veteran competitor and lifelong student of the art. His training journey began in Hawaii and took him through elite academies in Texas before returning home to Bennettsville.
