To the Editor:

After three years of serving as a County Councilman, I am making my first endorsement of school board candidates. I am making this first endorsement because there is no doubt in my mind that Michael Coachman deserves our vote for Marlboro County School Board Chairman. If it my belief that the residents, and especially the children, of our community are fortunate that he is now willing to serve in this capacity.

We as a community are now looking for leaders to unite us around a shared vision of what high quality education will look like after most students spent a year out of the classroom doing online learning. Michael Coachman will provide leadership to raise student achievement. Diving deeply into a situation, learning and working together for solutions is just one of his strengths.

With decades of leadership experience throughout the community, Michael serves with numerous groups that impact our kids. He also has 14 years’ experience serving on the Marlboro County School Board and has served two terms as Vice-Chairman of the Board. Michael spearheaded a referendum for the new $22 million Wallace school. He worked with board members and supported the new $24 million Blenheim school. He is the president of the Kollock Hawks Alumni. This organization has served all areas of Marlboro County through scholarships, food drives, as well as clothing and shelter during disasters. He has been one of the most influential role models ever for kids in Marlboro County. Michael has also coached recreation sports for more than 30 years. The list just goes on and on for Mr. Coachman’s accomplishments and affiliations. He is most definitely the right man for the difficult challenges that are ahead of our School District.

Please join me in giving your full support by voting November 8, 2022, for Michael Coachman for Marlboro County School Board Chairman.

Sincerely,

Ken Stroman
