With Halloween on Monday, there are several events happening throughout the county.

The Town of McColl Trunk or Treat will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday on Main Street. The event will feature food trucks, fun, games, and candy. Trophies will be given to the Best Halloween Costume and Best Trunk.

Reedy Branch Missionary Baptist Church will have its Trunk or Treat event at 1 p.m. on Saturday at 4120 Hwy 83 S in Clio.

A Walk-Thru Trunk or Treat will be held Saturday on the Marlboro County Courthouse Square. The event will take place between 3:00 and 5:30 p.m. with Douglas Eatery, a DJ, free popcorn, cornhole, jumbo Jenga, jumbo Connect Four, jumbo darts, and treat bags.

Jaharra Graves, Director of Bennettsville Tourism, Parks, and Recreation, emphasized that it will be a walkthrough, not a drive-thru.

“People will have to park their cars and walk around the trunks,” she said.

Registration for Trunk or Treat is extended until Thursday. To register, call Graves at 843-544-6448 or email lori.baker@bennettsvillesc.com.

“We would like to have as many trunks as we can get this Saturday,” she said.

Graves said to plan to distribute three pieces of candy for more than 500 children if interested in hosting a trunk. Participants will be in spaces beginning at the corner of Main and North Marlboro Streets and behind the courthouse. The streets that will be blocked include parts of Main and North Marlboro Streets, Market and North Marlboro Streets, Liberty and Market Streets, and Main and Liberty Streets.

Graves said people could park on Clyde Street or in the South Marlboro Street parking lots.

Graves is expecting a big turnout this year.

“This is a good way to have a safe Halloween with some free fun,” she said. “You’ll see many local companies and businesses set up to give back to the kids.”

The Clio Community Trunk or Treat will take place between 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Bennett Park in Clio. For information or to participate, call Tim McCoy at 843-862-5866.

Bennettsville Wesleyan Church will have a Trunk or Treat from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday.

The Marlboro Chamber of Commerce will host “Cinema in the City” at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday in the parking lot of Northeastern Technical College. The movie will be “Coco.”
