McCOLL – The body of Michael Jason Smith was found Wednesday evening in a wooded area near Bowen Grocery Road and Al Lane in McColl.
Smith had been missing since May 20.
Investigator Clay Anderson said the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office along with the Marlboro County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
“At this time, we are treating this as a death from natural causes,” Anderson said. “An autopsy will be conducted this week on Mr. Smith at MUSC in Charleston to determine the cause of death.”
