MARLBORO COUNTY — A 20-year-old McColl man died Monday afternoon when his pickup truck collided with a train in Marlboro County, Coroner De’Aron Smith said.
Derek Goins died in the crash, which the South Carolina Highway Patrol said happened at 3 p.m. on Briar Patch Road near McColl.
Goins was driving a 2001 Chevrolet S-10 pickup that was hit by the train at a crossing, they said. He was the only person in the vehicle and died at the scene, they said.
