Bulldogs fall to Lugoff-Elgin in playoff opener
For the Marlboro County baseball team, their first game in the postseason was disappointingly like quite a few games this season.  The Bulldogs got solid pitching but could not get the key hits when they needed to in order to produce runs.
Lugoff-Elgin broke a scoreless tie with a run in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth.  The Bulldogs pushed a run across in their final at-bat and had two runners on base but could not get the needed hit.

Marlboro County will complete much of the spring sports schedule this week.  The baseball team will host their final home game tonight and complete the regular season Friday at Wilson.  They will start playoff action on Tuesday.  Above, MCHS senior Zach Norton lays down a bunt against Myrtle Beach Tuesday night.

Sheriff’s Office announces 30 arrests in large operation
The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office this week announced the arrests of 30 people, the majority of them from North Carolina, in a multi-agency operation targeting areas of concern in the county.
The operation consisted of surveillance, traffic stops (interdiction), and other tactics, officials said.  
It was a joint operation involving personnel from the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office, S.C. Law Enforcement Division, S.C. Department of Natural Resources, S.C. Highway Patrol, McColl and Bennettsville police departments. 

Man arrested after 911 call threatening law enforcement

A Bennettsville man is behind bars after allegedly making threats against law enforcement and others during a 911 call.
It happened Tuesday, April 18, according to the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office. Dannie Harrington, 35, of 110 Arthur Smith Street, allegedly placed a call to the Marlboro County 911 center sometime after 6 p.m. Tuesday "and made numerous threats that included killing people and members of the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office and Bennettsville Police Department," according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office.
