WALLACE — Deputies with the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a North Carolina man for burglarizing the Dollar General in Wallace before Christmas.

According to Investigator Clay Anderson, deputies were conducting routine property checks of businesses when they observed the front doors to the Dollar General were pried open around 3:39 a.m. on Dec. 23.

Anderson said deputies subsequently located Matthew Stringer, 27, of Biscoe, N.C., in the area of the burglary.

Stringer was found to be in possession of burglary tools and was arrested for burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Anderson said Stringer was transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center for booking.

He added the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office and the Cheraw Police Department for their assistance with the investigation.
