Suspended Marlboro County Sheriff Charles Lemon and former deputy David Andrew Cook were arraigned in Florence on Tuesday on charges stemming from a taser incident on a suspect in May 2020. Lemon and Cook pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and misconduct in office and were each granted a $25,000 surety bond.

They appeared before Judge Michael Nettles and were ordered not to contact anyone from the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office.

Lemon and Cook have requested jury trials during the hearing.
