City okays incentives for Carolina Bank construction in downtown Bennettsville

City okays incentives for Carolina Bank construction in downtown Bennettsville
Action taken Tuesday by Bennettsville City Council paves the way for a million dollar construction project that will bring a new building and a public green space to the downtown area.
A majority of the council approved a letter of intent to provide economic incentives to Carolina Bank for the construction of a new bank building on East Main Street.
The incentives include the deed to the property that currently houses the Bennettsville Police Department and a $50,000 cash payment.
In turn, Carolina Bank will demolish the existing building, which is a former grocery store, and build a new state-of-the-art facility there. It will also demolish its current building next door and create a green space which will be open to the public.
