Library to kick off Summer Reading Program Saturday

Library to kick off Summer Reading Program Saturday
The Marian Wright Edelman Public Library will host its third annual Summer Reading Kickoff at the McColl Pentecostal Holiness Church gymnasium (400 S. Main Street) in McColl on Saturday, June 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The kickoff will serve as the first day of registration for the library’s 2017 reading program, and also give children a taste of the excitement planned at the library over the summer.
The kickoff will include many activities for both children and adults. There will be a huge bounce house, the FX Game Truck, face painting, Lemonade the Clown, a petting zoo, train rides, a live disc jockey, and health screenings. Informational booths will also be on site featuring a variety of vendors, including the Sword of Truth Outreach Ministries, who will provide free bagged lunches to all children in attendance.
There is no cost to attend this event; however, light refreshments and children’s books will be available for sale through the Friends of the Library.
Parents and children are encouraged to attend the kickoff and register for the summer reading program; however, registration may also be completed at the library the following week (June 12-17) during library hours.
