“A little paint goes a long way” Class officers Tykasia Sturdivant, Kashari O’Neal, and Karyn Holloway of the Marlboro County High School’s Student Government Association along with District 5’s Men on the Corner Club members Elijah Gregg, Ronald Brown, and Anthony Williams volunteered their time on the morning of Saturday, December 4 to improve the appearance of Broad Street. The group helped Bennettville City Councilman Tyron Abraham and Mayor Carolyn A. Prince paint the trash cans. Business Cindy Stone, owner of Breeden’s Meat Market, came out to thank the group for their work and said just painting the cans made a difference in how the downtown looked. Local citizens blew their horns, shouted words of encouragement, and gave thumbs up. Prasanna V Shekar, SGA advisor, organized the students and documented community service hours.
