Suspects charged in burglary on Palmetto St.

The investigation into a burglary at a home on Palmetto Street led police across state and county lines last week and resulted in the arrests of three people, with more arrests expected.
It happened between May 30 and June 1 at 311 Palmetto Street. According to a Bennettsville Police Depart-ment incident report, approximately $90,000 in cash was stolen, along with two safes and a 46-inch television valued at $1,200.

Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, and a way to raise awareness and honor both victims and survivors of cancer. 2 charged with stealing drugs from hospice patient

A former nurse was one of two people arrested last week on charges that they stole prescription drugs from a hospice patient in McColl.
Jennifer McKenzie Matthews, 35, and Richard Jay Lane, 45, both of 3283 Highway 57 North, Dillon, were charged with first degree burglary and theft of a controlled substance on May 28, according to the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office.

Crash near Clio claims life of Dillon man
A Dillon man lost his life following a single-vehicle crash near Clio.
It happened just after 6 p.m. Monday, May 26, on Hebron-Dunbar Road, according to Senior Trooper Hannah Wimberly of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown identified the victim as 31-year-old Randy Jackson of Dillon.
