Bennettsville Christmas Parade grand marshals, lineup named

The United Way of Marlboro County has been chosen as Grand Marshal for the City of Bennettsville’s Christmas Parade, which will be held in downtown Bennettsville on Tuesday, December 8, at 4:30 p.m.  The United Way of Marlboro County is a part of the Global United Way of America organization.

Earthmoving equipment was at work on the corner of Broad Street and Highway 15-401 Wednesday at the site that is to be home to a Cookout restaurant.  The double-drive through building is expected to be completed in February.  The Sterling Building Group of Greensboro, NC is the general contractor.

Turkey giveaway
Marlboro County teamed up with USA Waste and Recycling again this year for a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway. Saturday morning, November 21, volunteers distributed turkeys and other food items to residents in need at Marlboro County High School’s football stadium. This was the fourth year of the turkey giveaway.

Country music star Clint Black to perform at Marlboro Civic Center
The Marlboro Civic Center Foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary this season and will bring country music mega-star Clint Black to its stage on Thursday, February 25.
Black’s career is one of the most storied in modern music. He surged to stardom in 1989 reaching #1 with five consecutive singles from his triple-platinum debut, Killin’ Time.
