The City of Bennettsville will not pick up brown goods due to COVID-19.
Council approved resuming brown goods pick up at their April 21 meeting.
City Administrator Max Alderman said pick up was to resume in May.
Alderman said COVID-19 has paused the decision to start pick up and when the city will start is up to  Public Works Director  Bill Parrish.
Alderman said Parrish talked with public works directors in other cities and towns.
“They determined the furniture and other things, which are typical of brown goods, have smooth surfaces,” Alderman said. “The virus can live on those surfaces for quite some time.”
