Kickoff event for 2020 census will be Monday, March 16 on grounds of MWE
Marlboro County Complete Count Committee will host a kick-off event to encourage 2020 census involvement on March 16.
It will be at 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Marian Wright Edelman Public Library.
Pearlie Lawson, the coordinator of the committee, said it is to bring clergy, local and state leaders, and Census Bureau officials together to talk with residents about the importance of responding to the 2020 Census.

Bulldogs defeat Darlington, travel to A.C. Flora Tuesday night
Marlboro County advanced to the third round of the state Class AAAA playoffs with a 75-54 victory over Darlington Saturday night. They will play A.C. Flora Tuesday evening in Columbia.
The winner will face the winner of Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach in the Lower State Championship on Friday at the Florence Civic Center.

MCHS cruises to first round win, faces Darlington Sat.
For the first time in five years, the Marlboro County High boys’ basketball team will be moving past the first round of the state playoffs. The Bulldogs used a terrific first half to blow by Orangeburg-Wilkinson, 62-50, Wednesday night at the Dawg House.
“I’m very happy to get that first playoff win. I’m happy for the kids who have worked so hard to bring the program back and I’m happy for the community which has been so supportive,” said MCHS head coach LaTroy Brace after the final buzzer.

MSCC has third annual Black History Program
The Marlboro School Community Center held its third annual Black History Program on Feb. 15. The event featured various speakers, on-site vendors, and refreshments. Linda Sanders was co-chair for the Black History Program. Sanders said the program was “fabulous.” Above, the Community of Grace Church Praise Dancers performed.
