Suspect in Clio bank robbery still at large

The man who robbed a bank in the town of Clio this week was still at large as of press time, and state and local authorities are investigating.
It happened Tuesday, December 20, around 2:41 p.m. at First Citizens Bank,  which is located at 114 North Main Street. An unidentified black man came into the bank and gave a hand-written letter to the teller demanding money, according to Clio Police Chief Chad Cheras.

Representatives of the city of Bennettsville and Bennettsville Downtown Development Association, along with a group of little helpers from First United Methodist Church daycare, gathered at the city municipal building last Friday morning to plant a tree.
The occasion was Arbor Day, celebrated the first Friday in December in South Carolina.

Last season, the Marlboro County High boys' basketball team came just two points shy of playing for a state championship, falling 49-47 to Midland Valley in the Lower State Championship.  
However, with a roster that featured 11 seniors, that didn't leave much experience for veteran coach James Pate to build upon for this season.

The town of Clio kicked off the season with a Christmas parade on Saturday, December 3, followed by the lighting of the town Christmas tree.  The town of McColl followed with its annual parade on Wednesday, December 7. The final parade will be the city of Bennettsville’s on December 13.

Marlboro County High School honored its football coach on Wednesday by celebrating “Dean Boyd Day.”  Students, faculty, family members and friends gathered in the school gym for a program that featured former players, coaches and community members.
