Bulldogs open spring practice
The Marlboro County High football team opened spring practice on Monday with over 80 underclassmen participating.  “The enthusiasm has been very high and guys are already showing that they are willing to work hard.  It is good to be back out here,” said head coach Dean Boyd.  The Bulldogs will be practicing Monday through Thursday all of May.  Above, defensive linemen work through a pass rush drill.

Justin Cheek represented Marlboro Electric Cooperative at the S.C. Statehouse Tuesday for the designation of Linemen Appreciation Day. He was one of 40 electric utility linemen who stood with Gov. Henry McMaster and legislators as they honored the more than 2,000 lineworkers across the state.

Board reverses decision on reconfiguring schools

This week, the Marlboro County Board of Education overturned a recent decision to reconfigure some of the county’s schools. 
It happened at the board’s regular monthly meeting Monday. What it means is that, unless something else changes, Clio, Blenheim, School of Discovery and Bennettsville Intermediate students will remain where they are when the next school year starts in August.

Marlboro Academy’s top ranked softball team continued their roll to the playoffs, smashing Dillon Christian in a pair of games Monday and Tuesday.  They also defeated Charlotte Christian Academy 6-2 on Wednesday.

Hundreds turn out for forum  on school reconfiguration plan
Every seat in the Blenheim Elementary/Middle School auditorium was filled Wednesday evening, and people lined the walls and spilled into the hallway to hear more about a reconfiguration plan for Marlboro County schools.
