First Presbyterian Church in Bennettsville was the scene of a community Thanksgiving service on Sunday evening, November 20. Pastors, choir members and worshipers representing churches of all denominations and throughout the community came together for a service of music and praise.

One death, one injury in collision
A Laurinburg, N.C., man died at the scene of a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon, November 8, on Academy Road, near McColl.
It happened around 2:25 p.m. Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown identified the victim as 31-year-old Timothy Dane Bustard of Pea Bridge Road.

Marlboro County’s only resident legislator will retain her seat in the S.C. House of Representatives following a resounding win in the general election.
Patricia Moore “Pat” Henegan, a Democrat from Bennettsville, won her re-election bid for S.C. House District 54, defeating her Republican challenger, J.D. Chaplin of Darlington County.

Turnovers doom Bulldogs against North Myrtle Beach
The frustration was evident on every face on the Marlboro County sidelines as the clock ran out against North Myrtle Beach last Friday night.
After leading 14-7 late in the second quarter, the Bulldogs collapsed under the weight of turnovers and missed assignments.  The Chiefs pulled away for a 35-14 victory in the important Region 7-AAAA game.
