Bulldogs still fund-raising for proposed batting cage
Wednesday morning, with a look outside and a quick glance at the weather forecast, Marlboro County High baseball coach Phillip Blue knew that afternoon practice was in jeopardy.  
“We ended up getting some work done in the gym, but the most important aspect from an offensive standpoint is batting practice, which we couldn't do.  Because of the weather, we are a day behind,” said Blue.
He has hopes, that in the future, a little rain won’t set his team back in preparation for the season.

Binswanger Management Corp. has been named exclusive agent by Baldor Electric Company for the sale of their 162,800 sq. ft. single-story industrial property on approximately 40 acres.  The property is located at 2660 Highway 9 East in Clio.  The plant ceased production last fall.

Herndon selected as southeastern winner of High School Spirit award

Herndon selected as southeastern winner of High School Spirit award
Marlboro County High School junior Chandler Herndon is one of eight sectional winners of the National High School Spirit Award.  He was recognized Tuesday during a pep rally at the school.  The section winners will now compete for the national championship.
Through this award, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) seeks to recognize individuals who exemplify the ideals of the positive spirit of sport that represent the core mission of education-based athletics.  
According to MCHS principal Dr. Mark Bunch “Chandler fits that bill perfectly.”

Bulldogs fall to Myrtle Beach in home finale
Marlboro County hosted its final home basketball game of the season Tuesday night, with the Bulldogs falling to Myrtle Beach in two games.
The story was familiar for the boys' team, who held a lead late in the third quarter but melted away in the final minutes.  Myrtle Beach pulled away for a 50-43 win.

NETC opts out of old BES site

Northeastern Technical College no longer plans to use the former Bennettsville Elementary School site for an industry training center it has been working toward for several years.  Dan Bozard, chairman of the NETC board of directors, made that announcement to members of the Marlboro County Board of Education at their regular monthly meeting Monday.
