Every seat in the Blenheim Elementary/Middle School auditorium was filled Wednesday evening, and people lined the walls and spilled into the hallway to hear more about a reconfiguration plan for Marlboro County schools.

Kevin Treadaway officially became the town of Clio’s new police chief at a swearing-in ceremony Wednesday evening.
Treadaway is new to the position, but not to the town. In fact, he said his decision to take on the job was based on one simple thing: “To help out the town I grew up in.”

Bulldogs fall to Lugoff-Elgin in playoff opener
For the Marlboro County baseball team, their first game in the postseason was disappointingly like quite a few games this season.  The Bulldogs got solid pitching but could not get the key hits when they needed to in order to produce runs.
Lugoff-Elgin broke a scoreless tie with a run in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth.  The Bulldogs pushed a run across in their final at-bat and had two runners on base but could not get the needed hit.

Marlboro County will complete much of the spring sports schedule this week.  The baseball team will host their final home game tonight and complete the regular season Friday at Wilson.  They will start playoff action on Tuesday.  Above, MCHS senior Zach Norton lays down a bunt against Myrtle Beach Tuesday night.  

Man makes threats against sheriff

A Bennettsville man was arrested this week after allegedly making threats against Marlboro County Sheriff Charles Lemon while trying to break into his home, the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED) announced today.
