A vaccination event is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 31 at the Bennettsville campus of Northeastern Technical College.
The event is from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will  be available.
The first 15 people vaccinated will receive door prizes.
On Monday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued full approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for those ages 16 and older. 
There continues to be an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the FDA for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for those ages 12-15, and an EUA for the Moderna and Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccines for those ages 18 and older.  
At this time, DHEC has no plans to require COVID-19 vaccinations for the 2021-2022 academic year in K-12 schools. 
However, all eligible South Carolinians should get fully vaccinated as soon as possible. Being fully vaccinated and wearing masks are by far the best ways to protect yourself and others from COVID-19, including the hypertransmissable Delta variant. 
Recent data from Department of Health and Environmental Control vaccination dashboard as of Wednesday said only 7,229 of Marlboro County’s eligible population 12 and older were fully vaccinated.
 There are 8,700 people who have at least one vaccination.
Vaccination locations in the county include:
— CVS, 1085 North Cottingham Blvd in Bennettsville. Vaccinations are available from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday- Friday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Pfizer vaccine is available for ages 12 -17 years. Parent/Guardian will complete a consent form. Online registration is required to schedule an appointment visit CVS.com 
— Marlboro County Health Department, 711 Parsonage Street Extension in Bennettsville. Vaccinations are available every Tuesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. No ID, Insurance, or appointment required; Walk-ins are welcome. Appointments also available at https://cvas.dhec.sc.gov. The Moderna vaccine is available for ages 18 years and older. 
COVID-19 testing is available 9 a.m.-noon and 1 -3:30 p.m. Monday- Friday It is drive thru only. Register online at covidtest.dhec.sc.gov 
— Walmart, 1250 SC-9 Bennettsville. Vaccinations are available from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday- Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Walk-ins welcome or register online at Walmart.com to schedule an appointment. Pfizer is available for ages 12-17 (while supplies last) Moderna available for ages 18 and older. 
— Care South Carolina- McColl, 3080 Hwy 15-401 in McColl. Vaccinations are available on Thursdays from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.  and 1:30- 3 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome or register at caresouth-carolina.com. Moderna vaccine is available for ages 18 and older. Johnson and Johnson (1 shot) is available on MOBY units. 
— Marlboro Drug Company, 113 North Marlboro Street in Bennettsville. Vaccinations are Tuesdays and Thursdays (while supplies last) 9 a.m.-2 p.m. with the Johnson & Johnson (1 shot) The vaccine age is 18 years and older. Walk-ins welcome. ID required.

 COVID-19 update
In the last week, at least 49 new COVID-19 cases were in Marlboro County. The total confirmed number of COVID-19 cases is 3,916 with 61 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths. 
The total number of cases statewide is at  571,530 with 9,100 confirmed deaths.
As of Aug. 25, 47 students tested have tested positive with 552 students in quarantine. 
Nine  staff members have tested positive with 12 staff  members in quarantine.

    Testing
COVID-19 testing is available from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.  Monday-Friday at the Marlboro County Health Department, 711 S. Parsonage Street in Bennettsville. People are encouraged to sign up at covidtest.dhec.sc.gov. Results can be emailed in 3-5 days or be delivered by postal mail in 7 days.
CareSouth Carolina will offer opportunities for COVID-19 testing. These screenings are free and use mouth swabs. Results are usually back in 3-4 business days.
