CAMDEN Marlboro County Bulldogs Varsity Baseball team took the lead late in the game in a 12-9 victory over the Camden Varsity Bulldogs on Tuesday.

The game was tied at seven with MCHS batting in the top of the eighth when Markey Purvis singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as MCHS collected 11 hits and Camden nine in the high-scoring affair.

Camden opened up an early lead in the second inning when an error scored one run for Camden Bulldogs Varsity.

In the top of the seventh inning, MCHS tied things up at seven when an error scored one run for them.

Camden scored three runs in the second inning. The big inning for Camden Bulldogs Varsity came thanks to a single by Will Stines and an error on a ball put in play by Davis Beckley.

Micheal Norris earned the victory on the mound for MCHS. The right-hander went three innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out three.

Patrick Daniels took the loss for the Camden Bulldogs Varsity. Daniels lasted one-third of an inning, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out one.

Layton Hardee started the game for MCHS. The pitcher surrendered six runs on five hits over five innings, striking out five.

MCHS tallied 11 hits in the game. Jonathan Westbay, Purvis, and Tristan Hunt each racked up multiple hits. Purvis and Westbay all had three hits to lead MCHS.
