McCOLL A McColl man arrested Monday for placing a child at risk was also charged with heroin possession.

On April 1, the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence on Old McColl Clio Road in the McColl area of Marlboro County about an overdose.

Upon arrival, deputies found Heritage “Herbie” Lanaue Martin, 31, of McColl, unresponsive with his four-year-old child, trying to wake him up.

Officials said Narcan was administered to Martin, and he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

On Monday, the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division located and arrested Martin for children/unlawfully placing a child at risk of or causing harm or willfully abandoning the child stemming from the incident on April 1.

Upon Martin’s arrest, he was found to have heroin.

Martin was transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center.

He was charged with possession of heroin and children/unlawfully placing a child at risk of or causing harm or willfully abandoning the child.

Martin is awaiting a bond hearing.
