The Bennettsville Police Department filed the following reports:

March 15

– Police were dispatched at 8:50 p.m. to Marshall Street about a gun discharge into a dwelling. The complainant said the water heater had been struck after noticing water around the water heater. She found a hole in the side of the water heater. Bullet holes were found outside of the residence. The incident was forwarded to the Detective’s Division for further investigation.

March 16

– Police responded to Thomas Street at 12:28 p.m. about a domestic issue. The complainant said the subject, Lloyd Santana Jackson, 18, of Bennettsville choked her, took the keys to her GMC, and left with the vehicle. The two fought in the front yard as she attempted to keep him from taking the vehicle. Warrants were obtained for motor vehicle theft and criminal domestic violence/assault simple.

– Police were sitting at the Boulevard Mart at 2:16 p.m. when a complainant approached them about a larceny. The complainant had been recently released from jail on March 11. He returned to his home and found most of his belongings missing. Items included power tools, hand tools, clothes, car jacks, and other household items ($900). He believed his female roommate had sold his vehicle and some other items. The report was turned over to the Investigation Unit.

–Police were dispatched to Center Street at 10:02 p.m. about a domestic situation. Once on the scene, police saw a blood trail leading into the apartment. A large amount of blood was seen with a majority of it in the kitchen. The apartment appeared to have been destroyed with multiple items damaged. The complainant said the suspect was in the back bedroom. Police called for more backup. Police found Gregory Malik Breeden, 28, of Bennettsville in the back bedroom bleeding from his arm and visibly upset. All he could tell the police was, “she stabbed me.” The complainant said she had picked up Breeden and his daughter at a relative’s house. Breeden had been drinking, and they argued once he was in the car. While the complainant was driving, Breeden grabbed the steering wheel and tried to make her wreck. The complainant managed to make it home and got inside with the child while Breeden was in the car. He knocked until one of the other children let him. The complainant and Breeden argued, and he kicked her in the chest and bit her upper left arm. The complainant said she grabbed a knife but did not slash him. Breeden went to strike her and ended up cutting his arm open. Breeden was arrested for domestic violence and issued a citation for damage to the complainant’s vehicle. He was taken to the hospital for a laceration of his arm.

March 17

–Police were dispatched to Olive Street at 6:21 a.m. about an argument at a residence. The complainant said she was arguing with the subject while in bed. She tried to deescalate the situation, but the subject grabbed her by the throat and dragged her outside to the front lawn. She called 911. The subject, Tyrone Bradford, 57, was not found. Police were later dispatched back to the residence. Bradford had been hiding in the ceiling during the first time officers were present. After they left, he dragged the complainant back to the front law and punched her on the left side of her face in the eye. Bradford was inside yelling. He was arrested for domestic violence second degree.

–Police were dispatched to Rent-A-Center at 6:07 p.m. about an assault that had occurred at the store. Dispatch advised the subject had left the scene. The employee had been attacked behind the store. The employee and another employee went to pick up a washer at a residence on Wallace Circle. They were able to do so without an issue. Once the employee returned, they went to unload the washer and were approached by a subject from the residence. The subject accused the employee of stealing his weed. The employee emptied his pockets and showed his wallet and receipts to let the subject see he didn’t take anything. The subject slapped the wallet and receipts out of the employee’s hand. When the store manager came outside, the subject left.

March 21

–Police were dispatched to Oakwood Street at 6:06 a.m. about a fight in progress. On the scene, police found a female sitting on the ground with a male subject standing over her. As police approached, the male went up the stairs. The complainant said the subject, Donavan Marquesse Easterling, 25, of Bennettsville jumped on her. He took her cell phone. Easterling was arrested for criminal domestic violence third degree.

–Police were running stationary radar on Beauty Spot Rd at 1:50 p.m. when a blue vehicle was recorded during 70 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone. As a traffic stop was initiated, the driver, Brandon Michael McDougald, ran a stop at Beauty Spot and Wallace Road. The driver stopped in the parking lot of Jack’s Island. Due to a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, McDougald acting nervous and, having slurred speech, he was detained. A search revealed three open pint bottles of vodka under the passenger seat. McDougald was arrested for an ABC violation, reckless driving, and driving under suspension.

The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office filed the following reports:

March 8

–Deputies responded to Karen Circle in the Bennettsville area of the county at 12:36 p.m. about an assault. The complainant and his nephew live at the same residence. The complainant was outside talking with a family member when the nephew came outside of the home speaking loudly and “calling him out of his name.” The complainant pushed the nephew and they got into a physical altercation. The nephew hit the complainant in the head and arm with a grill top. The nephew had left the scene before deputies arrived. The complainant said he did not need medical attention and but wanted to press charges.

March 11

–Deputies responded to Fire Department Road in Wallace at 7:34 p.m. about an assault. The complainant said the subject, Lisa Diane Coates, 55, struck him on the arm with an ax handle. The complainant said Coates got mad because she was asked to close her window. Coates was arrested and charged with assault and battery third.

March 15

–Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Highway 38 North about an assault at 10:43 p.m. The complainant said the subject had been drinking for a couple days and got very aggressive with her. Earlier at 4 p.m., he grabbed her and threw her into the furniture. Then he threw a rocking chair on her. When she tried to reach for her phone, he took it and broke it. Then he threw another chair on her. At one point, she tried to escape the house but he grabbed her and threw her down. The complainant said she laid on the floor for several minutes before running out of the house to a neighbor’s home. Deputies did not find the subject at the home. Once back at the home, the complainant noticed her wallet and car were gone. She said it was possible the subject was riding side roads in the Wallace area or could be in the McColl area. The complainant wanted to press charges. A warrant was being sought for the subject.

March 17

–Members of the Investigation Division were able to find and located Amber Michelle Lanthier, who was wanted. She was arrested and served with an arrest warrant for unlawful neglect.

March 19

–Deputies were dispatched to the area of Hickory Grove and Hwy 9 at 7:06 p.m. about a caller stating her husband had stabbed her with an ink pen. The caller said the couple had been fussing the night before. That morning, she was gathering clothes and other items when Danny Ray Hicks, Sr. started fussing about her spending time with her family. She pushed him. He pushed her. Then he grabbed an ink pen and stabbed her twice, once on each side of her neck. Once deputies were on the scene, the caller did not know where Hicks was inside the house but noted he had two handguns inside the house. Deputies were given a house key and permission to enter the house. Hicks was sitting on the couch. When asked what happened, Hicks said nothing and he was just sitting down and then deputies came into the house. Hicks said the caller had left to go spend time with her daughters. Hicks was arrested for domestic violence second degree.

March 21

–Deputies responded to Caulder Road in Wallace area for service of a family court bench warrant for Julie Myers Odom, 44. Odom was inside the house in a bedroom with the door locked. Deputies called out to her several times to come out. Eventually, Odom unlocked the door and was arrested.
