Marlboro County will have a while to reflect on their season-opening win over Latta.
Several members of the coaching staff and at least one player have tested positive for the coronavirus. The team is now quarantined and will not be allowed to practice for two weeks.
“The Cheraw and Scotland games have now been canceled. We were looking forward to seeing where we stood against those quality teams but that is the way things are going with this season all over the state,” said MCHS head coach Bobby Collins.
The Region 6-AAA coaches voted Monday to move region competition up in the schedule, beginning on September 10. Thus, Marlboro County’s next game will be the region opener against Manning at McAlpine Stadium.
“We will be allowed to do some conditioning late next week, then return to full practice on September 6,” said Collins.
If the Bulldogs play their five region games in succession, Collins may be able to pick up a couple more non-region games before the playoffs begin.
