Young volunteers from across the state arrived in Bennettsville on June 28 for the annual Salkehatchie Summer Service. This is a project of the S.C. United Methodist Conference which gives high school and college age participants the opportunity to help others in need. Patricia Henegan will be the second woman, and the first African-American, to represent District 54 in the S.C. House of  Representatives, following the Democratic primary election runoff Tuesday.

Bennettsville Rotarians honored Marlboro County Probate Judge Mark Heath of Clio as their 2014 Four Way Test Good Citizen during their weekly luncheon meeting Tuesday at The Skye.
