— Jack Rogers informed Marlboro County Development Board members Monday night that he wished to retire as soon as his replacement can be secured. Rogers has spent nearly 15 years in his present position.

— Construction at the Ox Bodies site in the Marlboro County Industrial Park is progressing with completion anticipated this spring.

— Lia Kennerly will be traveling to Los Angeles, California, this summer to tour with the Young Continentals for a second time. The Continental ministries is a non-profit, inter-denominational organization dedicated to spreading the message of Jesus Christ through powerful music, drama, dance, and testimony. Latreta and John Kennerly of Bennettsville are Lia’s parents.

— McColl Mayor Verd Odom attended the winter meeting of the S.C. Municipal Association on January 4, 5, and 6. Tuesday afternoon, State Senator Dick Elliott and Mayor Odom had discussions on Senate redistricting and other issues facing the town of McColl.

— A small but interested group braved the elements Thursday night to hear the final presentation of a group of architects and town planners who spent a week studying downtown Bennettsville in January. Zach Rich and Tom Low returned to the Marlboro Civic Center on February 13 to present an overview of their “Downtown Master Plan” – suggestions on ways to revitalize the downtown shopping district.
