Filing for the Marlboro County Board of Education Chair and Districts 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8 seats ended on July 29.

The General Election will be held on Nov. 8.

Two current board of education members are on the ballot for chairman, Incumbent Chairman Jackie Branch, and District 1 board member Michael Coachman.

Incumbent District 2 member Janice Bright did not refile. Three newcomers are vying for the seat. They are Wyvette Douglas, Dianne Sloane, and Michael Toms.

In District 3, Incumbent Charles Chuck Graham will face Robert Goff, and Nikki Lynn Pruitt.

Incumbent District 5 member Rev. James Smith did not refile. Dr. Rippin McLeod Jr. filed for the seat.

In District 7, Incumbent Danny Driggers faces opposition from Deborah Peterkin.

Incumbent District 8 board member Katherine Manville did not refile. Five challengers are seeking the seat. They are Farrell Bethea, Rena Smith McLain, Tim McNeil, Leevander McRae Jr., and Artemus Woods Jr.

The last day to register to vote for the General Election is Oct. 7.
