The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office have made several arrests in the July 24 shooting incident at The Spot nightclub.

On Tuesday (July 26), Ra-Kem Dal-Von Townsend aka “Rah Rah”, 29, of Bennettsville, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection to the shooting.

On Wednesday (July 27), Cody Wayne Erwin aka “Loaf”, 21, of Bennettsville, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection to the shooting. At the time of Erwin’s arrest, he was in possession of a firearm and more than one ounce of marijuana and was also charged with unlawful carry of a pistol and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. On Thursday (July 28), Atais Ja Ni Taylor aka “Baby Tay”, 25, of Bennettsville, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection to this shooting.

On Friday, (July 29), D Shiem Tymaude Mcclean, 25, of Bennettsville, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of violent crime in connection to this shooting.

The arrests come from the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office responded at around 2:35 a.m. on July 24to The Spot night club, 614 Highway 15-401 East in Bennettsville about a shooting incident. Upon arrival, deputies and investigators learned that four victims sustained injuries from gunshots, and all four were taken by personal vehicles to surrounding hospitals. The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office requested SLED Crime Scene to respond to process the scene. The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office was later informed by medical staff that Lancetausha Pouncy, 28, of Bennettsville, died because of the shooting incident. The other victims are listed in serious condition.

Townsend, Erwin, Taylor, and McLean were transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center for booking. Townsend and Erwin have received their bond hearings and bond was denied for both. The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office expected to make more arrests in the coming days and will continue to work around the clock until all arrests are made.
