A Dorchester County man was sentenced Wednesday for almost 20 years for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old.

Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Clay Anderson said John D. Fink, 31, was sentenced Wednesday (March 9) at the Dorchester County Courthouse for 18 years in prison followed by four years of probation by Circuit Court Judge Edgar Dickson on the charges of kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Fink will also be required to register as a sex offender.

The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Wallace area of Marlboro County about a missing 13-year-old child on April 15, 2021.

Anderson said the Investigation Division was able to locate the missing juvenile the following day in Dorchester County.

During the investigation, it was found that Fink of Dorchester, drove to the juvenile’s home in Marlboro County and drove the juvenile back to his home in Summerville.

Fink was subsequently arrested for kidnapping and transported back to Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office.

Once there, Fink confessed to Anderson that he met the child online, drove to Marlboro County, picked the child up, and took the child back to his home in Summerville.

Fink also confessed to Anderson that he sexually assaulted the 13-year-old in his home in Summerville.

Anderson said the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank SLED and the Summerville Police Department for their assistance in this case.
