Ashlyn Camacho, an eighth-grader at McColl Elementary Middle School, is the Marlboro County School District’s only S.C. Junior Scholar for this year. She was recognized at the meeting Monday evening for the Marlboro County Board of Education. She is the daughter of Whitney Camacho, a fourth-grade teacher at MEMS, and David Camacho of Sanford, N.C. She is a member of the National Beta Club and the McColl Gre8t Leaders club. Ashlyn is an Honor Roll student whose teachers say she is a hard worker and very detail-oriented with her assignments. She is an artistic young lady who loves to draw. She enjoys reading and writing her own short stories. Ashlyn loves animals and plans to be a veterinarian.
